APPS SECIAL .....APPS OF 2017

APPS OF 2017

THESE BEAUTIFULLY CREATED LINES OF CODE MADE OUR DIGITAL LIVES EASIER AND MORE FUN IN 2017

iOS, Android
GRAMMARLY KEYBOARD
Grammarly is a useful tool for writers to easily discover problems related to grammar that typical autocorrect can’t detect. The Grammarly Keyboard aims to bring accurate grammar into everyday smartphone use. Since it replaces your default keyboard on both iPhone and Android, it can potentially work in any app. As you start typing a sentence, it offers spelling mistake suggestions. After ending a sentence, it will also make suggestions to improve its grammatical accuracy. To the many around us still clinging to the SMS lingo of the yesteryears, this app is an absolute must.

iOS, Android
GOOGLE ASSISTANT
In 2016, it was available exclusively to Google’s Pixel phones, but this year, Google Assistant arrived on Android 6.0 and above, as well as iPhone. One of the more functional voice assistants, Google Assistant combines the proactiveness of Google Now (that it replaced) with a personality like that of Siri. It can answer all kinds of questions, thanks to the search giant’s knowledge cards and rich snippets. It can play music, set alarms, start navigation, find traffic info, control smart home appliances, send instant messages and more.

iOS, Android
SUPER MARIO RUN
The popular video game character Mario may have come to life in 1981, but only in 2017 did it officially appear on the pocket gaming console we all carry — our smartphone. Super Mario Run is a vertically-aligned, side-scrolling game for iOS and Android. The graphics and animations are much better than the Mario a lot of us played in childhood, but the game still retains that retro feel and youthfulness, thanks to familiar visuals and sounds. It’s simple to play and its story-driven gameplay will fill you with nostalgia.

iOS, Android
JUSTWATCH
There are several video streaming services today — Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, Hooq, Voot, Google Play Movies, Apple iTunes, etc. If you want to watch a particular movie or TV show, it is generally a nightmare to manually search within each of these apps. JustWatch solves that problem by aggregating the content library information of many popular services in one app. So you can search for a title and see which service offers it. JustWatch also lets you discover content by filtering by year, IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes ratings, genre, price, and quality. Lastly, it also offers information like movie synopsis, cast, and trailer.

Android
MICROSOFT SMS ORGANIZER
SMS spam is a real problem in several countries, including India. Using machine learning, Microsoft SMS Organizer automatically organises text messages into personal, transactional and promotional tabs. Nearly all advertorial SMSs are accurately caught, and you can mute sounds, vibration and notifications for all promo SMSs. Next, smart reminder cards are generated using information within your texts, with one-click actions for checking PNR or flight status, bill payments, etc. Lastly, SMS Organizer also backs up and restores your SMSs from one device to another.
