TECH SPECIAL ...Get more screen real estate for your presentation

Get more screen real estate for your presentation

It is one of the nicest-looking portable USBs that comes with a number of design considerations that makes it practical

The Asus ZenScreen MB16A portable monitor is a USB powered display that's designed to make multi-screen setups for people using laptops feasible.
Having a second screen to extend your desktop is a great way to improve productivity, but for laptop owners who might benefit the most from extra screen space that's not always convenient, especially if you travel a lot.
With the ZenScreen MB16A, Asus has come up with an attractive device that's easy to carry, and which makes extending your screen space simple. It is priced at around $340.

Design
The MB16A's dimensions are 36x22.6x0.8cm, making it just a bit bigger than an iPad Pro. If this sounds a bit on the big side, remember that this is still far more portable than a standard monitor, and with a weight of 800g it's also comfortable to carry. The slim bezels at the sides and top of the screen mean the majority of the body can be occupied by the 15.6-inch screen.
The bottom bezel contains three buttons -two for navigating the on-screen menu and adjusting the backlight, plus a power button. On the left side of the body is the MB16A's only input, a USB Type-C port.

Performance
As the Asus ZenScreen MB16A derives its power supply and video feed via USB, you should not expect image quality like expensive standard monitors. The good news is, on the whole, the ZenScreen MB16A performs admirably, with the IPS panel rendering 1080p content well.
However, you might need to make a few tweaks before you are happy with how the display looks. If you find the brightness to be a bit dark, increase it to 100 per cent. Using the on-screen menu is simple thanks to the front-facing buttons on the bottom bezel. While the ZenScreen MB16A looks like a tablet, it's not a touchscreen.
