GADGET GIZMO REVIEW THE BEST LARGE SCREEN ON A BUDGET INFOCUS LED TV

GADGET GIZMO REVIEW
THE BEST LARGE SCREEN
ON A BUDGET
INFOCUS LED TV

After making a name in the smartphone space, InFocus has
now launched LED televisions in India. Like the smartphones,
the TV are aggressively priced: prices start at `9,999 for the
24-inch. The 50-inch variant that we received is priced
at just `35,000, making it one of the cheapest in the market.
Setting up the TV is easy: attach the metal stand to the TV
on each side using the supplied screws. Once attached,
you can place the TV anywhere. The first thing you notice
on the TV are the slim bezels around the screen.
As with any sort of this, this greatly enhances the style
and appearance. The stand complements the overall look
with the same silver finish as the bezels. On the lower right
side are the various controls while all the ports are placed
on the back. Along the side, you'll find a single composite
input and USB port. On the back, you'll find dual HDMI ports,
composite & component inputs.
InFocus says that the TV uses an A+ grade panel with 8 bit
colour technology for excellent brightness and rich colours.
We used the TV with a TataSky HD DVR set-top box, Xbox
One and multimedia playback via USB. The full HD resolution
helps keep the images sharp without loss of detail. The TV
impressed us with sharp details, rich colours and excellent
viewing angles. The only area where we think the panel is
lacking is contrast ratio. We tried calibrating the display to
the best of our ability but the contrast is definitely one of
the weak spots. It's not bad, but it held us back from giving
it a full 5 stars! We were further impressed by the sound
from the stereo speakers. Even though it's a slim design,
the 8W speakers were impressively clear and loud.
USB media playback is also a strong suite of the TV.
We tried various video and audio formats and it managed
to play everything without breaking a sweat. The media
interface was not too great: icons and text were pixelated
and it did not pick up album art automatically . This did
not affect playback of the files in any way You should also
know that this does not have smart features or Internet
connectivity which is available on TVs from Micromax and Vu.
If you dont want those and prefer the largest screen
you can get in a budget, the InFocus 50-inch TV is recommended.
