GADGET GIZMO REVIEW Lava Iris Pro
The Lava Iris Pro looks and feels like a much more expensive phone. From a distance it could be mistaken for an Apple product... but only from a distance. The phone is lighter than it looks and slim enough to be unnoticeable in the tightest of pockets.
The camera, however, is just about average. It has some noise issues in dim light and bleeding where bright lights are concerned. The overall quality is still usable, but it’s not something we would recommend to someone who uses their camera a lot.
The Iris Pro has a fantastic 1280x720 HD screen. The colour saturation is excellent and the blacks and whites are clean. The screen also has a decent viewing angle but visibility in direct sunlight is limited. However, it does come with scratch-resistant glass, which is a big plus in its favour.
Despite packing a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, it doesn’t have good performance. The Iris Pro is unable to run most heavy games like Dead Trigger 2 and Asphalt 8 on their own, let alone while multitasking.
On the flip side, the battery life is easily one of the best we have seen in this price range, with 6 hours of continuous video playback and about 16 hours of average usage.
The Lava Iris Pro excels at looking good, with the sharp lines and minimalist approach echoing Apple’s design philosophy. The look of the phone is further enhanced by its impressive screen, making it seem more premium than it actually is. If you don’t want your phone for gaming and you just want something that looks expensive, but isn’t, get this one. It’s sure to turn heads.
