GADGET GIZMO REVIEW ....................Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

GADGET GIZMO REVIEW Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

With a glass back and aluminium sides, the Xperia Z1 Compact feels premium – but that back does attract a lot of ugly fingerprints. And yes, it is waterproof too! You do need to seal the flaps on ports, which seem flimsy. This is also among the few phones to come with a dedicated camera key on the side.
The 20MP camera is the highlight of the Z1 Compact. It clicks fantastic photographs in daylight. But on Auto mode, it aggressively smoothens the images so you lose details, and punches up colours in low-light shots. You’ll be better off using a third-party camera app or using the default app on Manual mode.
Unlike the Z1, the Compact has no issues with viewing angles on the screen. It’s 720p HD, but on 4.3-inch screen, that’s sharp enough.
It will play any game you throw at it and handle a power user’s needs for multi-tasking. But that horsepower comes at the cost of battery.
If you aren’t playing games, the Z1 Compact will chug around for about 13 hours in a day, which is all right. But games make its battery life drop drastically – the high-end processor kicks in and drains the battery such that you go from 100 per cent to zero in less than 2 hours of a game like Dead Trigger 2.
If you want a high-end smartphone with a small screen, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is a winner. It’s got one of the best cameras, a lovely screen, top-notch performance and it’s even waterproof!
