TECH REVIEW... Panasonic P11

TECH REVIEW Panasonic P11

 PRICE 16,490
SPECIFICATIONS 1.2Ghz quad core, 1GB RAM, 4GB + microSD, 5-inch (1280 x 720) LCD, 8MP rear + 2MP front cam, Android 4.1, 2,000mAh battery, 160 grams
Great design, good build quality, excellent still camera performance
Heavy at 160 grams, low brightness display, poor video recording, average battery life After the P51, Panasonic has launched a range of Android smartphones to get a better foothold in the Indian market. The Panasonic P11 is their new dual SIM offering that comes with changeable back covers.
P11 has a curved edge design that makes the phone look and feel much slimmer than it actually is. The back cover has a smooth matte finish and fits firmly on the device. On first look, it almost looks like a unibody design until you find the groove on the right side corner that pulls the back cover out. The phone’s 5-inch display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and offers pleasing natural colours. We did feel the brightness to be a bit low which in turn made it difficult to view the screen under direct sunlight.
The P11 uses a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM and 4GB strorage (expandable). Even though the user interface is stock Android, there was visible sluggishness in navigation. Most apps and games ran fine including Dead Trigger, but the phone had trouble playing full HD videos. The 2,000mAh battery lasted one day on average use — as expected.
On the back is an 8MP camera that takes superb pictures in daylight. Indoors, there was visible noise, but the images were clear and good enough for sharing on social networking sites. However, video recording is disappointing with visible artifacts.
Other than the brand name, there isn’t any thing that makes the Panasonic P11 stand out. You can get similar features and perforamnce from most phones in this price range. Extend your budget a bit and opt for Panasonic's own P51. It offers similar hardware, better performance, bigger battery and a unibody design.
