TECH REVIEW............ Sony Xperia Z Ultra

TECH REVIEW Sony Xperia Z Ultra

PRICE 46,990/

The Ultra is the first device to be powered by a 2.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core processor. This flagship processor from Qualcomm offers mind-blowing performance, clocking in at over 34,000 in AnTuTu benchmark. The Galaxy S4 with Exynos octa core processor scores around 27,000. The Ultra also has theAdreno 330 GPU with support for 4K content. Quite obviously, there's nothing you can do that can ruffle the Ultra's feathers.
One of the biggest issues with the Ultra is its dimensions. Not only is it uncomfortable to use with one hand, it's also difficult to carry around. However, we've seen people use a 7-inch tablet as a primary smartphone. For them, the Ultra will be the ideal upgrade — a large display in a slim 6.5mm design with IP58 certified water and dust resistance.
The 6.4-inch display offers Sony’s Triluminos technology which is also used in Sony’s Bravia televisions. Jargon aside, the Ultra’s display has rich colours with pinsharp details. Another interesting feature of the display is that anything can be used to draw or annotate on it — be it a pencil, pen or any regular stylus.
We were expecting the 8MP camera to perform at par with the Xperia Z camera, but it is a letdown. There is lot of visible noise and the the lack of LED flash makes it unusable in low light conditions. Battery life is great — it consistently lasted us over a day with more than 20% to spare.
If you don't mind the large size and need a phone with a screen size of over 6-inches, the Xperia Z Ultra is the best choice at the moment. The only other similar size device is the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, but it does not come close to the performance or features of Sony's flagship.
SPECIFICATIONS 6.4-inch display (1920 x 1080 pixels), 2.2Ghz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB + microSD, Android 4.2, 8MP/2MP camera, 3,050mAh, 212 grams
Fantastic display, blazing fast performance, can use anything as stylus, battery life
Too large for comfortable use, average camera performance, no LED flash
