TECH REVIEW .................Acer Aspire P3

TECH REVIEW Acer Aspire P3

The Aspire P3 was launched at Computex this year and Acer has made the device available in India really soon. The hybrid Ultrabook looks classy and it comes with a Bluetooth keyboard dock in a nice leather case. The advantage of having a Bluetooth dock is that you don’t have to slide the tablet in a particular position to lock the hinges. The issue is that the keyboard has to be charged separately via microUSB and does not have a palm rest or trackpad.
You get a 11.6-inch touchscreen (1366 x 768 pixels) with great viewing angles, superb brightness and fantastic touch response. On one side is a single USB port, microHDMI and 3.5mm jack while on the other is the power and volume buttons. The lack of a microSD slot limits you to the internal storage.
Our review unit had an Intel core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage. You can also get a cheaper version ( 54,999) with Intel Core i3 and 60GB SSD. Windows Experience Index gave the Aspire P3 a 4.7 score (lowest in graphics). We found that the performance was butter-smooth in HD video playback as well as any usual daily tasks.
The audio output was fantastic for a device this size making it great for multimedia. There are also dual cameras which take acceptable quality photos.
Oveall, we feel the P3 is not your usual Ultrabook. There are lighter designs available for a lesser price. It also has issues that matter in daily usage. For slightly more, you can get the Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro that has a full HD display, slimmer design and expandable storage.
