SPECIFICATIONS
5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels), 1.2Ghz quad core, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage + MicroSD, 13MP rear + 5MP front cam, 2,000mAh, Android 4.2, 158 grams Performance, Slim design, metal body, software enhancements, camera Visible scuff marks on metal edges, low volume output in headphones

The Canvas 4 is the new Micromax flagship that offers multiple new software enhancements along with powerful hardware.
The slim design of the phone and anodized aluminum body looks impressive. However, after only a few days of usage, scuff marks started appearing on the metal edges. Although screen size and resolution is the same as the Canvas HD, Micromax has improved the display — it can now also be used with gloves.
Hardware is the same as Canvas HD — 1.2Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 2,000mAh battery. Internal storage is now 16GB with micro SD expansion.
Some of the new enhancements include: blow air on the screen or shake it to unlock the phone, flip to mute, video pinning, answer a call by raising the phone to your ear and split screen multitasking. You also have an eye-tracking feature that pauses video when you are not looking at the screen (only works with native player). The video and music player have also been updated with various enhancements. All this provides a rich overall user experience.
Photos taken in daylight as well as indoors are very good from both the rear 13MP and front 5MP camera. There is noise in darker areas, but its only visible when the image is viewed at 100% zoom. The rear camera does full HD video recording in good quality.
Although the loudspeaker of the phone is up to the mark, the output in headphones is disappointing. The volume level was low and lacked bass. Battery backup was one full day with average use .
Should you buy it over the Canvas HD? Yes, because you get a better build quality and improved cameras. Otherwise most software features can be enabled using third party apps.
