Nokia Lumia 720
Nokia now has several Lumia devices than span a wide price range. The 720 is their mid-range offering that strikes a great balance between price and features.
Taking a cue from its more expensive siblings, the Lumia 720 has a curved unibody design that provides a great grip. Unlike the others, the 720 is just 9.9mm slim and has a smooth matte finish that makes it look elegant. The 4.3-inch display is bright, easy to view in daylight and works with gloves, just like the Lumia 920. However, screen resolution is a decidedly downmarket 800 x 480 pixels. Nokia’s ClearBlack technology makes up for it a little though: the tile-based interface pops-out and it makes the phone great for watching videos.
One of the best things about the Windows Phone interface is that it runs smooth even on basic hardware. So the Lumia 720’s hardware specifications — 1Ghz dual core processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB storage — were more than enough for any day-to-day tasks as well as gaming. The highlight of the phone is the camera. It has a 6MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and an aperture of f1.9 — the widest aperture available on a smartphone today. The images are fantastic — you get sharp details, vivid colors and low noise. The wide aperture helped in low light scenarios as well with the phone taking better images than similarly priced Android competitors.
With average usage, the Lumia 720 easily lasted over a day — one of the best we have seen from a Windows Phone. Between the Lumia 820 and 620, there is a substantial price difference of 10,000. The Lumia 720 effectively fills this gap by seamlessly combining style, features and performance. For a slightly lower price you can also consider Nokia's own Lumia 620 with similar hardware but a smaller battery and a smaller but sharper 3.8-inch display. Rs.19,000
