LEADERSHIP SPECIAL...Exceptional leaders celebrate successes and failures as a team

Exceptional leaders celebrate successes and failures as a team

I fundamentally believe in the fact simple that yet , “managers effective manage and leaders lead”. Trust is at the heart of every relationship and extraordinary leaders have the ability to motivate and inspire a team to go beyond what is expected. A great leader can transcend and enliven the corporate culture, which for me is our exemplary work environment that is injected with
exceptional staff empowerment, and extraordinary commitment to its customers. The realisation that ‘people are your most valuable asset’, is something every leader who aspires to become exemplary must grasp. If a leader and his/her organisation does not support this philosophy, does not live and breathe it on a daily basis, then he/she will not succeed as a leader. Being sensitive to different cultures and nationalities and realising that everyone has a different motivational trigger that brings out the best in them, are important. People have different talent and need to be ‘guided’ differently to fulfil their individual aspirations and help achieve the company’s goals. A true leader creates standards of excellence in people and product while setting an example for others to follow, despite the hurdles placed in front of them. Passionate leaders envision the future and have the unique ability to help others ‘live their dreams’ and make it a reality. Passion and expertise drives enthusiasm; enthusiasm drives people to see beyond. In addition to that, you always have to challenge yourself and your comfort zone.
As a leader, I am proud to say that one of our company’s most valued core principals is giving back to the community in which we operate hotels. Our ‘Community Foot Prints Programme’ helps give back, assists under privileged people and helps improve life and conditions. This is the most rewarding opportunity when you realise that you are a part of something bigger than just running a hotel - being a part of the community.
A defining moment was when I realised that my personal philosophy in life was reflected in the principles the company that I worked with. It is easy to work for a company when trust, honesty, respect, integrity and commitment are highly valued and in alignment with your personal and family goals.
I believe in the motto: “do the right thing because it is the right thing to do”. In the business world, no matter what country or demographic you are in, all you have is your personal reputation. The biggest legacy a leader can have is recognising and motivating the people around him/her to pursue true excellence. For us, it is about creating exceptional service through an internationally renowned brand. Give credit to people who deserve it the most; exceptional leaders celebrate each other’s successes and failures as a team. The Ritz-Carlton being a global brand provides huge growth opportunities to work across the world and with the most talented individuals in our business.
